Britney Spears, Glee Torn a New One By Parents Television Council

Last month's Britney Spears Glee episode earned a show-record 13.3 million viewers and several spots on the Billboard charts. But the response wasn't all positive.
Some reviewers felt it was fluff from a series renowned for great writing on weighty topics (see this week's "Grilled Cheesus"). Others were just plain offended.
The Parents' Television Council deemed the "Britney/Brittany" episode the worst thing on TV that week, a "pandering tribute" to a "toxic teen role model." Ouch!

Some parents were not thrilled with Brittany or Britney.

Part of the PTC's beef was that more children are likely to watch Glee than other series, making the content more objectionable than that of all other programs.
On top of bashing the "skimpy outfits," the group calls the episode an "endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque."
The PTC also slammed the focus on Britney Spears personally.
"Perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled popstar into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem," they said in a post on their website this week.
"Considering her stints in rehab, public breakdowns and questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model."
The scathing indictment concludes with this: "The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around."
Really, PTC? Yes, she goes shopping in lingerie, but come on. Baby steps. The Glee tribute was kind of weak, but was this brutal tirade really that necessary?

Britney Spears Working on New Album (Really)......

If you thought Britney Spears did nothing but spin by the mall, go to Starbucks, get new tattoos and make pit stops at area gas stations ... you'd be right. Mostly.
According to reports, the star has actually made progress on a new album, which would be her first since the smash hit Circus came out nearly two years ago.
Three songs are done and she loves them. Spears has also gotten a really positive reaction to her recent appearance on Glee, which has led to similar offers.

HIT THE STUDIO, Y'ALL: Somehow, Britney squeezes recording sessions in between her obligatory Starbucks runs. We can't wait to hear the results of those trips.

No word yet on when the new album will come out, but hey, it's pretty much a given that we'll actually hear this someday ... unlike Amy Winehouse's "upcoming" effort.

Apparently bored of conjuring up rumors about Bragenlina and Robsten, a pair of international tabloids have set their sights on Megan Fox.
In their latest issues, New Weekly and Famous - the same random magazines that claimed Brad and Angelina were finished last week - both made the following assertion: Fox has undergone plastic surgery.
While such an admission by Kim Kardashian is hardly news, this is the first time anyone has alleged Fox's ridiculous beauty is anything but natural. Study the supposed before-and-after cover photos below and come to your own conclusion:

The actress married long-time boyfriend Brian Austin Green on June 24 and likely couldn't care less what Famous reports about her.

Report: Lindsay Lohan Tries, Fails to Break Out of Rehab to Grab a Soda....

Whether this is true or not, we have no idea, but it was reported by Perez and Radar, and is too good not to pass along. Sometimes a girl just needs her Coke fix!
Sources say Lindsay Lohan attempted to break out of the Betty Ford Center, where her troubled a$$ is seeking treatment for drug abuse, and escape into the wild.

The alleged actress and an accomplice supposedly hoped to hit up a soda machine at a nearby medical center, but the diabolical plan was foiled ... why, you ask?

A source explains: "Lindsay and her co-conspirator were forced to give it up and flag down a volunteer, who was crossing the center's grounds on a golf cart."
"The pair was safely returned, decaffeinated, to their hall, where they were the center of a process meeting over what they had just done, or tried to do."
LOL. That makes for some classic imagery. A lot more fun to picture than her in counseling meetings blaming Michael Lohan for her issues, true as that is.

Kim Kardashian Has "Fly" Time at 30th Birthday Bash.....

As part of her birthday week celebration, Kim Kardashian, family members and friends partied at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas last night.

The paparazzi was invited, as well. Kim let cameras into an event she Tweeted as "fly like a G6," also telling followers the crowd was going "crazy" at the bash and informing us she had ordered a White Russian. The drink, of course. Her taste in men is wholly different.
Overall, Kardashian said she has "mixed feeling" about turning 30 because "it sounds so old. "
"And then the other half of me is like, I feel so accomplished and it's really no different than 29," she added.

As Now can reveal, Jordan's husband, cage fighter Alex Reid, 35, has announced plans to write an explosive tell-all autobiography.
‘Alex is quite keen to pen an autobiography covering details of his life, including his fighting career and his marriage,' says a pal.
'And when he told Jordan that he's thinking of bringing a book out, he expected her to be more supportive.'
But in true Jordan style, she was having none of it, telling him in no uncertain terms that he's more than welcome to write any book he likes but under no circumstances is he to mention details of their relationship. Harsh!
'Jordan's basically putting Alex in his place by hammering home to him that she's the star, not him and he's only famous because of her,' says our insider.
'She's concerned that revealing details of their relationship could paint her in a worse light than she's already in and that's the last thing she needs to deal with right now.'
With Alex's upcoming TV show on Bravo being cancelled after a decision had been made to axe the channel, it's understandable that he's keen to put pen to paper to maintain his public profile, but that's problematic without his wife's support.
'Alex can't believe that she's not allowing him to write about their relationship,' says a close friend.
'He's been prattling on about it to everyone, saying that Jordan's not being fair because she's such a huge part of his life.
'She's also pointed out that, without writing about her, no one would be that interested in Alex because all he's ever done is have a few fights, take a bit part in Hollyoaks and appear in Celebrity Big Brother, which is hardly enough for a book.'

Katie, Cher and Rebecca are incredibly insecure and this is pushing Cheryl to the limit.
‘The constant need for reassurance from these girls is something Cheryl has never known,' says Now's insider.
'Katie was either picking on what Cher was wearing or making her paranoid.
'When Cher's voice went during her audition at the judges' houses stage, Katie said to her, "Imagine if that happened on the live show - that'd be awful, wouldn't it?"

‘Katie also told Rebecca it was a shame she couldn't connect with people. Rebecca tried to let it go over her head, but Cher has been really affected.

To add to the behind-the-scenes bitching, Cheryl's mum Joan has warned her that all the aggro could make her seriously ill.
‘This kind of stress is the last thing she needs after recently recovering from malaria,' says a friend.
‘Doctors have told her she needs to go easy and eat really healthily, as malaria can return if the body's immune system is not strong and you're too underweight to fight it off.
'So far Cheryl's been making sure she eats right, even though her appetite is the first thing to go when she's under pressure.'
With warring girls, a public backlash, a recent divorce, and her arch-rival Nicole Scherzinger being deemed a better judge by some, it's a wonder the poor girl hasn't run off to some far and distant land and curled up in the foetal position forever - we know we would!
